Fireworks Light Up The Sky Throughout Suburbs

KENNETT SQUARE, Pa. (CBS) - While many New Jersey shore points had to postpone their fireworks due to weather, many shows in the Pennsylvania suburbs launched on Independence Day without a hitch.
The Longwood Gardens fireworks and light show was sold out to about 5,600 people. The display in Kennett Square, Chester County, is a favorite for folks far and wide.
"I drove from Richmond, Virginia, through the hurricane stuff," one visitor said. "I'm very proud to be American."
That's a sentiment that carried into the celebration at Elmwood Park in Norristown, Montgomery County, where live music got the crowd going before fireworks.
"Turned out beautiful, couldn't be better," Ginny Reynolds said of the weather.
Rain in the forecast cancelled the Norristown parade in the morning, but the afternoon and evening concerts as well as the fireworks were a go.
And despite temperatures being a bit cooler than many are used to on July 4th, many they say it was a great night to celebrate.
"This is our country, I'm very patriotic," Karen Thompson of Newark said.
