Platt Bridge reopens after fatal crash near Philadelphia International Airport

All lanes of the George C. Platt Bridge in southwest Philadelphia have reopened Monday after a multi-car collision shut down the entire bridge early Monday morning.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. in the westbound lanes on the bridge, which is located just north of Philadelphia International Airport. The eastbound lanes reopened around 7 a.m. the westbound lanes reopened about 30 minutes later, though some debris was still blocking one of the westbound lanes.

Drivers trying to get to the airport were detoured to use Island Avenue, I-95 or the Schuylkill Expressway/I-76 earlier Monday. Police have not yet released any details about what led up to the crash.
