Fan Sues NFL Over High Price Of Super Bowl Tickets

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Sitting outside for four hours in East Rutherford, New Jersey in February doesn't sound particularly enticing. This year, on one day in February, that will not be the case, as the the Super Bowl will be in a cold weather city, outdoors, at MetLife stadium.

Super Bowl tickets this year, as they are just about every other year, are expensive. The Super Bowl, along with the NCAA Final Four and the National Championship game are the biggest events in North American sports. One man has decided that the price he paid was too expensive, and he's doing something about it.

Bruce Nagel, of New Brunswick, New Jersey, paid $4,000 per ticket on the secondary market to go to the Super Bowl, and is now suing the NFL because of it, according to a report from The Star Ledger's Jason Grant.

The suit alleges that the NFL makes just 1% of the total tickets to the game available to the general public, and Nagel and his lawyer believe that violates a provision in New Jersey's Consumer Fraud Act.

"Read the provisions (of the New Jersey statute), they are clear as day," Nagel told Grant. "The NFL just blew it. They just didn't get the fact that there's law in New Jersey that prohibits what they are doing."
