Facebook Takes Live Video To The Next Level

By Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Like it or not Facebook's live streaming is here to stay. The social network has announced new features to help users create, share and discover live broadcasts.

Over the coming weeks, Facebook will be rolling out new features for Facebook Live.

The social network says it's committed to creating the best experience for everyone creating, watching, and interacting with live video.

Now, users will be able to broadcast a video specifically to a Facebook group or event.

Viewers will be able to leave real-time animated reaction comments like "love" and "wow." And broadcasters can add filters to videos and eventually live doodle directly on a video.

Live videos will also get a new landing area on Facebook and desktop users will be able to view a map of the world showing current live broadcasts.

Facebook is hosting an event at 1 p.m. today to celebrate the people who have been using Live to share moments with friends, family, and fans.
