PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A public exhibit featuring photography taken through microscopes will be on display at the Wistar Institute in University City on Tuesday.
Biomedical researchers at the Wistar institute see amazing images under their microscopes every day. Now you can too. Wistar is hosting the 2015 Nikon Small World Exhibition of award-winning photography through the microscope. You'll be able to see the top 20 winners. There were thousands of entries from around the world.
One of the images looks like a peacock, but it actually is a fern sorus magnified 20 times.
James Hayden, is the Director of the imaging facility at the Wistar Instute and a 13-time Nikon Small World winner.
"The bottom line is you are magnifying something quite a bit so when you magnify them a lot you are seeing things that the normal person doesn't see and a lot of times for the first time and they are compelling when you do that," said Hayden.
The free exhibit is in the atrium of the Wistar Institute, 3601 Spruce Street. It runs from January 19 - March 4.
