Event in Camden County Offers Opportunities and Image Tips for Job Seekers

COLLINGSWOOD, N.J. (CBS) -- Thousands showed up today at a job fair at the Collingswood Ballroom, hosted by the Camden County Freeholders.
And a local nonprofit organization helped some of the job-seekers dress for success in their search.
Kevin Davis, of Camden, was dressed in a suit and tie as he applied for jobs.
"I know how to cook," he told KYW Newsradio. "Mainly I want to be behind in somebody's kitchen, doing something that I know what I'm doing."
His wardrobe was courtesy of Prep Institute, in Pennsauken, NJ. The organization's "Image and Attitude" program assists men and women in transition with business attire and occupational and job-skill training.
"First impressions are a lasting impression," notes Mona Burch, the organization's executive director, "and it only takes seven to ten seconds to make that lasting impression. And it's not based on what you say, it's based on how you look."

There were about 100 employers offering positions in a variety of fields including health care, law enforcement, retail, finance, and transportation.
