Evening Jog Turns Into Tragic Accident On Roosevelt Boulevard

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Authorities in Philadelphia are investigating an accident involving a jogger, near the Tacony Creek in the city's Lawncrest neighborhood Friday.

Philadelphia police say it was just before 5 p.m. when a car going south on the Roosevelt Boulevard struck a jogger near Bingham Street.

Officials say the 56-year-old driver hit the woman, while he crossed from the inner to the outer lanes in a 2012 Chevy Equinox.

They say the 26-year-old victim was going against the pedestrian stop signal, and was hit. She was thrown into the side of the car and windshield, before landing on the street.

The victim was taken to the hospital with severe head injuries and is listed in extremely critical condition.

The driver remained on scene. No charges have been filed.
