Escaped Dog Kills Teen In NJ

PATTERSON, N.J. (CBS) - A large dog escaped a fenced in backyard and killed a teenage boy Saturday in Patterson, New Jersey.

Prosecutors say the 13-year-old was walking with a friend when the dog attacked. The boys then ran in different directions and one went missing.

Following a search, the victim was found dead in the snow near a creek.

"It's not an isolated incident. It happened twice and the owner should be held accountable for that," neighbor Randy Billie tells CBS3 Eyewitness News.

The dog also bit the surviving teenager in the hand.

Authorities have killed the dog and the animal will be tested for any possible diseases.

So far, no charges have been filed against that dog's owner.
