PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) – Singer Demi Lovato has been hospitalized for an apparent drug overdose, Entertainment Tonight reports. According to CBS News, Los Angeles Police Department officials confirmed officers responded to a drug overdose at the 8000 block of Laurel View Drive in Hollywood Hills, where the 25-year-old's home is located.

A representative for Lovato says she is awake and recovering with her family on Tuesday night.

"Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support," Lovato's representative said in a statement Tuesday evening. "Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now."

The statement did not provide any details on what led to the singer's hospitalization.

Emergency officials confirmed they transported a 25-year-old woman who lives on Demi Lovato's block to the hospital after receiving a call at 11:22 a.m. Tuesday.

TMZ was the first to report that Lovato had been hospitalized for a drug overdose, based on its sources, and other outlets including People magazine also reported her hospitalization based on sources.

Lovato has been public about her struggles with substance abuse in the past. CBS News reports that her recent song "Sober" is about a relapse after six years of sobriety where she apologizes for letting down her family and fans.

Lovato previously told CBS News that her single, "Tell Me You Love Me," was about conquering her addiction.

"People think it's a breakup song, but it's actually kind of a breakup song with myself and my bad habits," she said in February.

The singer was slated to headline a beach concert in Atlantic City on Thursday but that has since been canceled.

"Demi's Atlantic City appearance on July 26th has been canceled in light of today's news. Tickets will be valid to attend the Lauv performance on July 26th along with The Chainsmokers show on July 29th as part of the Atlantic City BeachFest Concert Series. Refunds are also available at point of purchase if preferred," said Live Nation is a statement to CBS Philly.

Fans weighed in following Tuesday's announcement.

"Obviously her health and well being are most important but we were really excited," said  Andrea Grasso.

"We kinda need our money back," added her friend Samantha Harsh, who paid $250 for four tickets.

"We got our tickets six months ago," said Karen Adams. "We wanted to see Demi.  We paid to see Demi, so it would be nice to get that money back and maybe go see her when she's better and back up and running."

Lovato, who was a child actress on the TV series "Barney & Friends," broke on the scene as a teen on the Disney Channel film "Camp Rock" and the network series "Sonny with a Chance." She went on to become a multi-platinum pop star, launching Top 10 hits like "Sorry Not Sorry," ''Skyscraper," ''Heart Attack." Her 2015 album, "Confident," earned her a Grammy nomination for best pop vocal album.
