End Of Summer Doesn't Mean End Of Trips To Jersey Shore
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thursday is the first day of fall. But that doesn't necessarily mean an end of trips to the Jersey shore.
The tide has shifted. Shore towns are no longer ghost towns when summer ends. More people are deciding to take advantage of the cooler temps and less crowded beaches.
"It's just the beginning of a new season for us," said Katherine Custer, Director of Community Services for Sea Isle City. "In the autumn we always have a great deal happening with a lot of entertainment for families."
Custer has seen an increase in the number of businesses that stay open throughout the fall and winter. One of them is Groovy Girlz clothing. This is owner Colleen Buch's ninth season.
"You can come down to all the different festivals, hit your favorite restaurants," Buch said. "You can still shop through the holiday all through Christmas. There are bunch of stores still open."
And those that stay open say it's definitely profitable.
