End Is Near For Years Of Construction On Major Highway In The Region

CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) -- There is good news for drivers who have been dealing with the construction zones on Route 202 in Chester County.
PennDOT's Gene Blaum says construction is finally coming to an end on a 2.5 mile stretch of Route 202 between Route 401 and Route 30 in Chester County.
Blaum says road crews are beginning to pick up the barriers and do some line painting this week and hoping to get the highway open by the middle to end of the week.
"The complete opening of the 202 corridor in the Malvern-Great Valley area to six lanes is going to be a major transportation improvement for the region and specifically for the commuters traveling between West Chester and King of Prussia."
Blaum says commuters will find a new interchange at Route 401 with new ramps and the widening of Route 401.
Also, seven and a half miles of sound walls were installed to lessen the traffic noise from the highway on nearby neighborhoods.
