EMS Official Urges Patients To Have Meds, Oxygen On Hand Before Snow Hits

By Michelle Durham

IVYLAND, Pa. (CBS) -- With snow coming to the Delaware Valley by nightfall, a local EMS official is reminding people who rely on medications or oxygen to make sure they have what they need before the storm begins.

"The general public should do a couple of things," says Bucks County director of emergency services Scott Forster.  "They should make sure they have their prescriptions filled and, if they are on home oxygen, ensure the oxygen tanks are full."

Also, driveways and walkways should be cleared off to help medics safely transport the patient out of the house if required.

And Forster says if a true emergency arises, call right away.

"It make take Emergency Medical Services longer to get to their house," he notes.
