Report: Eagles 'Enamored' With Kevin Hogan, Vernon Hargreaves

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles have been doing their due-diligence on quarterbacks heading into this year's draft, hosting and working out the top prospects like Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, and Paxton Lynch.

Apparently, however, the Eagles may hold off on a drafting a quarterback on day one and take CBSSports.com's 10th ranked QB Kevin Hogan late.

"They were very enamored with Hogan, the quarterback out of Stanford in the later or mid-rounds," said NFL reporter Ben Allbright on the 94WIP Josh Innes Show. "Think they can get him and make him a project since they've got Chase [Daniel] and they've got Sam [Bradford] on the roster for a year or two. They think they can work on him and make him something. So look at Kevin Hogan, might be a mid-round guy."

As for the Eagles' first-round interest, Allbright says don't be shocked if Philly adds to its secondary with pick No. 8.

"And then Vernon Hargreaves, the corner, the defensive back there," Allbright said. "They're really enamored with him and a worst case scenario is that he falls in their lap at [number] eight [overall] as well, so that's just another name to keep an eye on."

Offensively, the Eagles are reportedly interested in Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott. However, with the Dallas Cowboys sitting at pick No. 4, Howie Roseman and company may need to trade up ahead of their NFC East rival if they want the 6'0", 225-pound playmaker.

"I do know they're bringing Ezekiel Elliott in for a visit," Allbright said. "He's there [Wednesday] and they are definitely interested in Ezekiel Elliott.

"They are scared that the Dallas Cowboys, who have floated both Carson Wentz and Jalen Ramsey rumors lately, could be in the mix for Ezekiel Elliott as well."
