Eagles Fans Gear Up For Season Opener
By Tim Jimenez
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- They had their RV's out. They had their grills out and they were playing games. It was all part of having a great time as Eagles fans, thrilled with the start of the regular season, tailgated outside of Lincoln Financial Field in advance of Sunday's kickoff against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Fans could be seen tossing around some bean bags and playing a very large Jenga game, but, of course, there was also plenty of food -- and not just burgers and hot dogs.
"Today, we have a sweet and sour meatball as an appetizer," said Ivan, a master chef at one of the tailgates. "And I made the guys some grilled bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches. We had chestnut holes wrapped in Seneca bacon rolled in a brown sugar."
And while plenty of longtime Eagle diehards were on hand, there were also some relatively new fans joining in on the fun. Colleen, moved to Philadelphia from Boston last year -- and, on Sunday, she brought along some friends for the party.
"They rented this RV and this is going to be a new tradition," she said. "The first game of every season, they're going to come up. They came last year when we first moved here, and we're just partying and tailgating."
New or old, expectations among many fans were not just a win against Jacksonville, but a run to the Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona.
