Eagles Fan Wins Opportunity To Attempt 40-Yard Field Goal For $20,000
PHILADELPHIA, November 03, 2014 – More than 45 Philadelphia Eagles fans went head to head in Santander Bank, N.A.'s "$20,000 Field Goal Challenge" Try Outs in the Field House at the NovaCare Complex, the Eagles training facility, on Saturday, November 1.
After a brief warm up led by the Eagles staff and the chance to meet former Eagles linebacker Ike Reese and two representatives of the Eagles Cheerleading squad, who were on hand to cheer on the participants, the group of die-hard fans, took to the field. All competitors lined up to attempt field goal kicks from the 15-yard line. Those who did not score a goal were knocked out of the competition. Those who were successful attempted field goals from increasing distances until only one finalist remained – lucky Eagles Fan and Quakertown, PA native Kyle Werts, who was the only participant to successfully complete a 40-yard field goal.
In addition to bragging rights, Wertz won a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attempt a 40-yard field goal at halftime of the Eagles game against Tennessee on November 23, 2014 at Lincoln Financial Field. Should Kyle make the field goal, he will win $20,000 from Santander.
Those who participated in Saturday's event won the right to take part in the "Field Goal Challenge" Try Outs by correctly answering a daily trivia questions about Eagles alumni as part of Santander's eight-week online contest this fall in partnership with the NFL team. Santander is the Official Bank of the Philadelphia Eagles.
