"Dynasty" among reboot shows for CW
Philadelphia (CW Philly) -- The 1980s prime-time soap opera "Dynasty" is getting its own reboot treatment among other shows coming this fall to the CW.
A change already being made to the show is that the setting will no longer be in Denver but instead Atlanta along with a change to the original theme song. However, there are going to be plenty of similarities between the reboot and the original.
The reboot of "Dynasty" will be run by Sallie Patrick, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University who also worked on shows such as "Limitless" and "Revenge".
Patrick has also said that there will be homages to the original in the new "Dynasty" pilot along with each episode's title being taken from dialogue in the '80s series.
Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, said bringing back "Dynasty" is an effort to refresh its offerings for women after the end of "Reign" and "Vampire Diaries." With this he hopes to recapture the post-45 audience but also the audience under 45.
The new series will air at 9 p.m. on October 9th, 2017.
