Dump Truck And SUV Collide Before Truck Strikes North Philly Church

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- One person was injured in a crash that involved a dump truck and an SUV at a church in Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened at about 12:30 p.m. at 18th Street and Girard Avenue in North Philadelphia.

According to Eyewitness News reporter Syma Chowdhry, who witnessed the crash, a Volvo SUV was heading west on Girard Avenue when it was t-boned by a dump truck heading south on 18th Street.

Both of the vehicles slid and knocked down a traffic light.

The vehicles eventually came to a stop only at the front entrance of the Smith Chapel Baptist Church, which the truck reportedly struck.

The driver of the Volvo was treated at the scene by paramedics. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
