Drug Deal Gone Awry Lands 2 Men In Custody

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS)—Bensalem Police responded to the Creekside Apartments for a report of gunshots fired on New Year's Eve.

Upon arrival, authorities were flagged down by several people who observed a male firing a gun at car that was seen fleeing the parking lot.

Witnesses pointed out to police the apartment that the suspects ran into.

Police attempted to make contact with the suspects but they refused to answer and locked the door. About an hour and a half later, the suspects opened the door and were detained.

Further investigation revealed that James Quinn had arranged to buy drugs and for some reason became upset and allegedly fired at least one shot from a handgun as the dealer was driving out of the apartment complex.

The second suspect, Joshua Lake, allegedly arranged the drug deal with a man he knew from prison.

Lake admitted he took the gun from Quinn and fired several rounds at the drug dealer's car as it was leaving the lot.

Lake and Quinn are both convicted felons and should not possess any firearms.

Detectives later located the fleeing vehicle, which had a shattered rear window with evidence of a gunshot.

Police recovered a firearm with five spent shell cases in Quinn's apartment.

Quinn and Lake have been charged with aggravated assault and other related offenses.

They were sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $500,000/10 percent cash bail.
