Drexel Drops To 2-11 With Loss To William & Mary, 73-47

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Marcus Thornton scored 23 points as William & Mary won its second straight game to open the Colonial Athletic Association season with a 73-47 romp over Drexel Monday night.

The Tribe has won 10 of the past 16 meetings with Drexel and opens the CAA season 2-0 for the first time since 2009-10.

William & Mary (8-5, 2-0 CAA) came in holding opponents to under 61 points per game and teams have shot just 39.5 percent against the Tribe. Drexel finished well under both numbers, shooting 18 of 57 from the field and scoring just 18-second-half points.

Daniel Dixon added 14 points while Terry Tarpey pulled down 10 rebounds for William & Mary. The Tribe shot 55.1 percent from the field (27 of 49) and were 11 of 25 (44 percent) from distance.

Damion Lee scored 18 points and Rashann London added 16 for the Dragons (2-11, 0-2).
