Person Of Interest Detained In Doctor's Center City Hotel Death

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police have a person of interest detained in connection with the death of a man in his 70s, who was found with a belt tied around his neck at the Rodeway Inn in Center City Monday morning.

Police identify the deceased as Psychiatrist Dr. Howard Baker and an autopsy confirmed he was strangled to death.

Authorities have also revealed Baker had two male visitors to his hotel room Monday, and are looking into whether one of them caused his death.

Baker kept an office a few blocks west off Broad and Walnut.

At first, he was thought to have been involved in "auto-erotic asphyxiation" -- a sex act in which one purposely limits their own air supply.

However, as the police probe continued, Homicide Detectives were called in on to the investigation.

And, as part of that investigation, police spent hours at the Inn speaking with hotel staff, reviewing records and surveillance video.

"I knew that the news cameras at the Rodeway Inn wasn't a good thing."

The investigation is ongoing.

CBS 3's Justin Finch contributed to this report.
