DNC Road Closure Map Released

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- As promised, security for the Democratic National Convention will be far less restrictive than security for the Pope was. The plan was unveiled by the Secret Service Thursday.

It shows street closures and restrictions limited to the area around the Wells Fargo Center.

All highways through the city will be open although trucks, buses, RV's and trailers will have to detour off of I-95 between Penrose Avenue and the Blue Route.

The northbound ramp of 95 at Broad Street will be closed the entire week, beginning the Friday before the convention and the southbound ramp will be closed intermittently.

Those closures are in addition to previously announced street closures in the area-- Broad from 7th to 20th, the cross streets in between from Packer to 95, and all of FDR park.

That doesn't affect pedestrians. The Broad Street subway will run to AT&T station.

Only those with credentials or tickets will be allowed into the Wells Fargo Center.

Mayor Kenney thinks it's reasonable.

"The Secret Service are experts at keeping people safe, and we will work with them and cooperate with them and what they need."
