Dirt Bike Rider Dies After Colliding With Fire Truck
WILMINGTON (CBS) -- A dirt bike rider has died following an accident involving a firetruck.
According to officials, the 21-year-old victim collided with a City of Wilmington Fire Department Ladder Truck while it was responding to a call on Saturday afternoon. The truck was traveling eastbound on W. 4th Street approaching the N. VanBuren intersection and hit the dirt bike rider traveling northbound who had failed to stop at the red light.
The victim was treated at the scene and then transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition where authorities say he later succumbed to his injuries.
His name has not been released as officials work to notify next of kin.
No other injuries were reported.
