VILLANOVA, Pa. (CBS) -- One Villanova student who will be sitting in the stands tonight for the NCAA final is thankful for the kindness of strangers for getting her there.
Jayne DeRogatis, a junior at Villanova, had no plans to go to Houston because she couldn't afford it.
Her mom is a waitress at a North Jersey diner, and last week, mom was talking to one of her customers about Villanova and how her daughter would love to go to the Final Four, but she couldn't afford it.
Then the man went to leave, "And he looked at my mom and he said, 'tell your daughter to have a good time at the game,' and she looked like, kind of confused because she had just told him I wasn't going to be be able to go, and she looked down and he had left a $400 tip."
Jayne left on Friday with friends and is enjoying the Wildcats wild NCAA ride.
"It really restores your faith in people. I can barely afford to go to Villanova, never mind going to an amazing historic once-in-a-lifetime opportunity like this, just to see my team. And he basically made my dream come true."
