Delaware County Emergency Responders Prepare To Respond To Whatever The Next Storm Brings

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Suburban officials say they're ready to battle the latest winter blast.
Delaware County Council Chairman Tom McGarrigle says extra staffers are being brought in to handle an anticipated crush of emergency calls at the 911 Center.
"If you have an emergency dial 911. If you lose your power call 1-800-841-4141, that's the number for PECO. And don't assume they know you don't have power. Call them. If you see a downed line call 911," McGarrigle said.
And he says PECO will have backup help again from the same crews that chipped in last week.
"All the outside crews that were brought in from out of state will remain in the region until after this storm is completed tomorrow sometime," he said.
Salt is in short supply in many municipalities throughout the region and also at a main supplier in Bucks County. The company is International Salt and Marketing Manager Mary Kay Warner says help is on the way.
"There are ships currently en route to several ports along the U.S. East Coast containing salt. So while our supply may be low, we're also in a resupply mode," Warner said.
Salt is an issue in Delaware County. McGarrigle says they're trying to help Marple, Ridley, Collingdale and Swarthmore score a fresh supply before they run out.
