Dead Raccoon Tests Positive For Rabies In Camden County
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – A raccoon removed from a Camden County residence has tested positive for rabies.
Officials say that on Apr. 20, the family dog of a Camden household fought with and killed a raccoon.
Camden County Animal Control picked up the raccoon and tested it for rabies in Trenton.
On Apr. 23, the animal was confirmed to have been rabid.
The dog was up-to-date on its vaccines and has been given a rabies booster. It will also be confined and observed for 45 days from the date of the incident per state law.
