The flavor mix of chocolate-and-bacon has gained ground in recent years, moving toward the realm of peanut-butter-and-jelly or mushrooms-and-onions. I've sampled it three times in this food hunt, and this was the best I found.

It's the chocolate, to be sure. David Bradley chocolates are rich, creamy high-end products made with real sugar and whole milk – and not the dreaded corn syrup. The mixed pack comes with two slices each of dark and milk chocolate. The dark chocolate had the perfect combo of sweetness and bitterness. Love that stuff.

If you're a chocolate fan, this is ecstasy. If you're a bacon fan, it loses a bit. That great chocolate seems compromised with a scrawny, average-tasting slice of what tastes like supermarket bacon inside. A fine product overall, but if David Bradley hooked up with a better bacon maker, it would be Hall of Fame quality.
