Coyote Spotted In Wildwood Crest

WILDWOOD CREST, N.J. (CBS) -- A woman at the Jersey Shore was caught off guard Saturday morning when she spotted a coyote near her vacation home in Wildwood Crest.

Kristin Holland Mark of Lansdale, Pennsylvania says she was sitting on the front porch of the home near Stanton Road and Pacific Avenue around 6 a.m. when she saw the coyote run by.

"I called the Wildwood police and they are fully aware of it. The animal preservation people know all about it too," Mark wrote on her Facebook page. "He lives in the marshes at the south end of the island and coexists pretty peacefully without bothering people from what the police officer told me."

Mark captured video of the coyote running through the street.

Police say officials with the Wildwood Nature Preserve were notified and that coyotes are native to the area.
