Cops: Man Driving On Schuylkill Expressway Shot In Head By Son During 'Family Argument'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Philadelphia man is behind bars after he was arraigned on charges he shot his father on the Schuylkill Expressway.

Twenty-two-year-old Kymere Corbin is being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on weapons and assault charges.

He was unable to post bail, which was set at $500,000 cash.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 20th.

Police say Kymere fired a 9mm slug into his dad's head from the back seat while the 42-year-old was driving late Tuesday afternoon.  Cops say the two had been arguing on the way to a drug and mental health rehab center, where the younger Corbin was being admitted.

Elbert Corbin is in the hospital in critical but stable condition; he's expected to survive. Another person in the car, the suspect's mother, wasn't hurt.

Police say Kymere told them the gun went off as his father was trying to wrest control of it.

The shooting and the investigation closed part of the Schuylkill for some time and left a traffic mess.
