Conditions Prompt Red Flag Warning In The Region
TRENTON, NJ (CBS) -- The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the tri-state area until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
All the nice weather we've had over the last several days comes at a price. Steve Maurer with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service says the combination of warmth, lack of rain and higher winds creates a dangerous condition.
"Anyone working outside with anything that could produce a spark or if they're working with an open flame needs to be extremely careful today," said Maurer. "Any slight flame or hot ember has the potential of spreading very quickly if it ignites anything on the ground."
While we're not expecting any rain much before Friday, winds are expected to die down overnight, which should mitigate the immediate danger.
