Coatesville, Pa. Holds Its Annual Parade Honoring US Military Vets

COATESVILLE, Pa. (CBS) -- Community organizations, schools, and businesses marched this morning in a parade at the VA Medical Center in Coatesville.
It's a special day for veterans here. The annual parade is part of more than a week's worth of events leading up to Veterans' Day.
John Hamilton, who served in the US Marine Corps from 2002-2006, including a tour in Iraq, says it means a lot to veterans to see the community come together to recognize them.
"It just shows that what we're doing, it's not for nothing, that people still do care, despite everything that's going on, and all the difference of opinion in America as a whole, they still do care about us, and they support us," he told KYW Newsradio. "And you know, that's what keeps us going."
More than 200 people were taking part in the parade, including the marching bands from Coatesville and Pottsgrove High Schools.

The grand marshals this year were veterans who served in "Operation Desert Storm" and "Operation Desert Shield."
