Coast Guard Crew Comes To Aid Of Injured Ship Captain Off Coast Of Cape May

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — The Coast Guard came to the aid of a ship captain who was injured aboard his vessel off the southern New Jersey coast.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City responded to the 274-meter long Almi Voyager motor transport on Saturday. The vessel was about 356 miles east of Cape May at the time.

Officials say the captain suffered a leg injury, thought it wasn't clear how he was injured. His name was not released.

The helicopter crew was able to hoist the captain up to the aircraft and flew him to a hospital. He was in stable condition, but further details on his status were not disclosed Sunday.
