City Asks Philadelphia Residents To Briefly Postpone Sidewalk Shoveling

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- With a second round of snow headed our way later today, the question is: must you shovel now, or can you wait until the last of the snow stops falling?
"Currently we're expecting another storm, so it's a grey area," admits Keith Warren, chief of operations for the sanitation division of the Philadelphia Streets Department.
He says they are working around the clock to clear the streets and would prefer that property owners stay out their way, so they asking folks to put down the shovels for a little while.
"If you don't have to be out in the snow, if it's not an absolute emergency, stay home and let us get the city up and running," he advises.
Warren notes property owners are required to clear a three-foot path around their property and could get fined if they fail to do it. But he says the Streets Department has no plans to issue tickets until six hours after the current snow emergency is lifted.
