CBS Philly will also be celebrating the induction of several members of the family into the 2014 St. Patrick's Ring of Honor including Chief Meteorologist Kathy Orr and 98.1 WOGL's Breakfast Club personalities Ross Brittain, Valerie Knight, Frank Lewis and Bill Zimpfer. The St. Patrick's Ring of Honor recognizes those who have given exemplary service in Philadelphia's Irish community.
Philadelphia's St. Patrick's Day Parade is the second oldest in the country, dating back to 1771, and is hosted by The St. Patrick's Day Observance Association. This year's theme is "St. Patrick, Bless the Contributions of Irish Americans to Our Nation," and features Grand Marshal Jim Murray, founder of the Ronald McDonald House and Eagles Fly for Leukemia, and former general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles. Participants in the Parade include marching bands, traditional Irish dance schools, youth groups and Irish Associations.
"The Parade is the perfect way to celebrate Irish heritage and culture by bringing the entire community together," says CBS 3/The CW Philly President and General Manager Jon Hitchcock. "Whenever you're celebrating, you can be part of the St. Patrick's Day fun through multiple broadcasts on both The CW Philly and CBS 3 and on our website."
"We are delighted and proud to once again work with our multimedia partners CBS 3 and The CW Philly. Our parade and heritage is greatly enhanced by the first-class presentation of the CBS 3 team," says Michael Bradley, Parade Director for the Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade. "Their multiple broadcasts are a terrific way to bring the parade to those who cannot attend in person and a great public service to the entire Philadelphia region."
The St. Patrick's Day Parade telecast is presented by IBEW Local 98 and sponsored by Philadelphia Federal Credit Union and Granite Run Buick GMC.
CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and The CW Philly 57 (WPSG-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
