Chip Kelly: Meeting Was Not About Me, 'I've Never Been Leaving'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After three straight losses, rumors regarding Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly are swirling once again.

Eagles running back Kenjon Barner and left tackle Jason Peters told Jeff McLane that Kelly addressed the team and notified his players, stating he is not going anywhere.

Kelly, however, told reporters on Wednesday the meeting was actually about perception vs. reality, not necessarily about his job status.

"I was actually having a talk with them about perception and reality and I used that as one example of the difference between perception and reality," Kelly said on Wednesday. "But I didn't have a team meeting to say let me tell you what's going on with me. That was just an example.

"I've never been leaving and its been reported," Kelly continued. "And that's my point---the difference between perception and reality is the reality is this, the perception is this. And here's a couple examples of reality and perception. That's all it was."

Kelly, after two straight 10-6 seasons to start his NFL career as head coach, was given complete control of the Eagles' roster prior to this season. In year three, Kelly's Eagles are just 4-7 and the former Oregon head coach is facing immense pressure from the fans and media before Sunday's clash with the 10-1 New England Patriots in Foxborough.

Still, Kelly believes in his guys.

"I've seen it work before and I've seen these players be successful before," Kelly explained. "And I have gotten that question. I've seen us play really good football. Up until the last few games I thought we played really well on the defensive. I thought those guys have done a really good job.

"And I told those guys that," he continued. "I believe in them because I've seen it. It's not believing in them because it's fake. I've seen them all play at a high level."
