Cherry Hill Makes It Easy For Residents To Get Rid Of Christmas Trees

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (CBS) -- The holidays are almost over and now you have to decide what to do with the dried out Christmas tree. Cherry Hill is making it easy for residents to get rid of that tree.
Cherry Hill Township has a number of ways to recycle that tree, old Christmas lights that don't work, even all those cardboard boxes that have accumulated. The Township's Bridget Palmer says the trees can be left curbside on regular trash days, or taken to two drop off sites: one at the public works complex at One Perina Boulevard and the other at the municipal building at 820 Mercer Street. And that's not all.
"Old, non-functioning Christmas lights that you want to throw out are considered electronic waste," she says. "We'd rather that you bring them over to the Public Works complex. There's a shed that's clearly marked as 'e-waste,' and you can put them on the tables outside of the shed."
Palmer says there are also two designated dumpsters for cardboard at the location on One Perina Boulevard. She says these recycling locations are open 24-7 until January 16th.
