At Least 1 Teen Arrested Following Violent Flash Mob Incidents In Center City
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police have arrested a 14-year-old boy and are looking for other suspects who authorities say were part of a rampage involving two flash mobs in Center City.
Captain Sekou Kinebrew says at around 7:40 p.m. Saturday, two groups of nearly two dozen teenagers each were involved in a string of assaults, mostly on and around the 18th Street corridor, on the street, and in a pizza parlor.
"We have at least six people who were either robbed, assaulted, or both," he said, "and on top of that, we have a SEPTA police officer who was also assaulted."
Kinebrew says investigators are still trying to pin down the details.
"We're trying to see what, if any, relationship these two groups of teens actually had with each other," he said. "They could have all been together and then broke off, and that's why it looks like two different instances, or they could be unrelated to each other."
He's asking anyone who saw any of the incidents, or who may have been targeted, to call police.
