Celek Selflessly Supporting The Emergence Of Ertz
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Brent Celek isn't catching many balls and he's perfectly fine with it.
Celek is one of the all-time great Eagles tight ends. In fact, he is second in franchise history among tight ends in receiving yards (3,792), receptions (303), and touchdowns (24). However, this year Celek has only three catches for 15 yards in two games, including a target-less Monday night game against the Colts.
Celek's lack of activity in the Eagles' passing game is in large part due to the emergence of 2013 second-round pick, TE Zach Ertz. Ertz has seven catches for 163 yards in two games this season, averaging a hefty 23.3 yards per catch.
"Well, I'll tell you this," Celek told Michael Barkann and Ike Reese on the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show. "I'm so excited for him. Zach is going to be a great player for a long time and I think you could see that when he first came and just to see him to develop, see him work on his routes. The kid is one of the best route runners I've seen. I know Eagles fans are excited about him and they should be excited about him. He's doing a lot for our team, he's a great addition, and as much as we can get him the ball the better."

Next up for Celek and the Birds is the Washington Redskins and former Eagle wide out, DeSean Jackson.
"I don't think it does anything to us," Celek said of Jackson's return to Philly on Tuesday. "I'm not really gonna worry about that too much. I'm gonna be worried about their defense and how we can score a lot of points on them. But, not too much to say about D-Jac."
