CBS Agrees to Buy Philadelphia Radio Stations 92XTU and Wired 96.5

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Some big changes behind the scenes are coming in Philadelphia radio, as CBS Radio and Beasley Broadcasting today announced a four-city station swap.
In the Philadelphia market, three stations are changing hands.
CBS will take over two FM stations here -- WXTU and "Wired 96.5" -- and three stations in Miami. CBS will give Beasley its stations in Charlotte and Tampa, as well as 610 WIP-AM here.
"What acquiring WXTU and Wired provide us with is tremendous, tremendous demographic balance," said CBS Radio Philadelphia market manager Marc Rayfield in a brief meeting with CBS Radio staffers at the CBS Broadcast Center in Spring Garden. "Male, female, young, old."

After the station swaps, CBS will own four FM and two AM stations in Philadelphia, along with its TV stations (CBS-3 and CW Philly 57).
Federal regulators must approve the ownership changes, which Rayfield expects by year's end.
No plans were announced to change programming formats at any of the new CBS stations in Philadelphia.
