Reece says he is excited by the move and expects it to pay immediate dividends on the field.
"One of my priorities was a legitimate returner. That's an added weapon that takes them from number two in offense -- that singular move may take them to number one in offense," he said.
Reece responded to a rant from Sproles' wife that she posted online criticizing the Saints after announcing they would trade him.
"That tells me we have a fiery, committed woman headed to town. You better not say nothing about Darren Sproles with his wife around, because she sounds like she's going to stand up for her man. That's a ride or die chick," Reece stated.
He said athletes and their families, particularly in the NFL, should never get too tied to a particular city or environment because most player's careers are short and teams will not hesitate to move them if they feel it is necessary.
"It often ends badly in sports. You can't just dream about the way you would like for your career to go…Darren Sproles sounds like a guy who comes to town with a wife and kids and does things in the community and tries to be part of the community. It's hard for these guys to see that it's just a business. Very few guys get to remain with the organization and retire [there]," he explained.
He did say, however, that he expects Sproles will enjoy his time in Philadelphia.
"Once he gets here, he's going to realize how blessed he is. He is lucky to be playing with LeSean McCoy and he is lucky to be playing in Philadelphia."
