Man Steals Car With Two Women In Back Seat In Front Of Police, Leaves Behind Prison ID Card

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- A traffic stop turned into a crash, carjacking, robbery, and kidnapping overnight in South Philadelphia.

Police say they pulled over a Ford Mustang at 19th and Camac Streets, but instead of stopping his car, the driver took off and crashed.

Police say the driver then carjacked a Nissan right in front of a police officer.

"When he took off, there were two females in the back seat of the car that he carjacked," says Chief Inspector Scott Small. "A 22 and 23-year-old female. 17th District Police witnessed this carjacking and went in pursuit."

After driving a few blocks, police say the suspect got out and fled on foot.

One of the women in the car then drove to 9th and Ritner Streets, where she flagged down a police officer.

Police say they know who they're looking for -- the suspect left behind a prison-issued ID card.
