California Native American Tribe Gets Okay To Operate Online Gambling Site In New Jersey

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- A Native American tribe based in California that operates a casino just outside San Diego is teaming up with the Borgata to offer internet gaming in New Jersey.
Garden State regulators have given their blessing to Pala Interactive using one of the web gaming licenses issued to the Borgata. Pala CEO Jim Ryan plans to have the site up and running before the end of November.
"We've built our product to hopefully give the consumer a better player journey," Ryan says. "So we might just take some meaningful market share. At least that's our hope."
One idea is offering a customer a cash incentive to actually sign up with them. The Pala website will operate apart from Borgata's. It's the tribe's first venture into online gaming, although Ryan believes the experience in New Jersey will help them to branch out in California and elsewhere as online gaming grows in this country.
