Police: 26 Students Taken To Hospital Following Pepper Spray Incident At Burlington County Institute Of Technology

MEDFORD, N.J. (CBS) -- Over two dozen students were taken to local hospitals following a pepper spray incident at a South Jersey school on Wednesday afternoon.

Medford police say they were called to the Burlington County Institute of Technology around 12:45 p.m. after a student discharged a small pepper spray canister in the cafeteria.

Police say a total of 34 students were evaluated by first responders on the scene for minor injuries ranging from teary eyes to coughing and vomiting. A total of 26 students were transported to local hospitals for evaluation.
