Bruce Springsteen Extending Run On Broadway After Tickets Quickly Sell Out
NEW YORK (CBS) -- Bruce Springsteen is extending his run on Broadway, after fans run into ticket trouble.
Tickets for Springsteen's show quickly sold out after they went on sale Wednesday.

Springsteen was originally scheduled to perform some of his songs and read excerpts from his book for eight weeks, beginning in October.
Because of the intense demand, the show has been extended to February.
Tickets for the added shows go on sale next Thursday, but you have to register in advance for a chance to buy them.
In an effort to thwart scalpers, fans have to register for the chance to buy Springsteen on Broadway tickets. Ticketmaster calls it Verified Fan. For the first round of Springsteen on Broadway tickets, Ticketmaster randomly sent Verified Fans text messages with codes just hours before tickets went on sale.
For a chance at the second round of tickets, you have from now until Sunday, September 3 at 10 p.m. ET to register as a Ticketmaster Verified Fan. Tickets will go on sale September 7.

A Ticketmaster statement says:
Verified fans will be notified September 6 for the September 7 on sale. If you previously registered for Springsteen on Broadway powered by Ticketmaster #VerifiedFan, your registration will be automatically carried over for the new run. Registering again or more than once does not increase your chances to receive an offer code.
Despite the Verified Fan system, many tickets apparently ended up in the hands of scalpers, who are selling them for thousands of dollars each on StubHub.
The sought-after show will be held at the 960-seat Walter Kerr Theatre in New York. Springsteen will perform five shows a week. Previews start October 3. Opening night is October 12 .
