Body Of Worker Trapped In Bucks County Silo Collapse Recovered
BRISTOL, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say the body of a worker trapped in last week's collapse of a 125-foot silo at a suburban Philadelphia shipping port has been recovered.
Patrol Sergeant Sean Cosgrove of the Bristol Township police department said the victim's body was recovered at about 2 p.m. Sunday. He said other details would be released later.
Authorities in Bucks County said the silo containing concrete mix at Riverside Industrial Complex collapsed late Wednesday, trapping the victim under tons of steel and stony granules.
Officials searched the debris for hours and then termed the operation a recovery rather than a rescue mission, citing the lack of air pockets and the 10-degree temperatures.
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the collapse.
