1 Dead In Early Morning Blue Route Crash

BROOMALL, Pa. (CBS) -- An accident on a heavily-traveled road in Delaware County Tuesday morning snarled traffic for motorists for several hours.

The accident happened at about 5 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Blue Route (I-476) approaching the Broomall interchange.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, a car struck the median guard rail head on and rolled over multiple times. The vehicle came to a stop blocking both lanes of I-476  northbound at mile marker 8 in Marple Township.

Police say the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected when his gray Chevrolet Trailblazer flipped over. The victim, 34-year old Brian Bagley, was pronounced dead on the scene by Delaware County Medical Examiner.

As a result of the accident, traffic in the northbound lanes was severely impacted, with only the shoulder squeezing by at times. The lanes were fully reopened at about 7:30 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
