Blog: Top Third-Party Sites When Buying A Car

By Jim Donovan: Gone are the days when prospective car buyers visited multiple car dealerships in search of a new set of wheels. Instead these days most initial research is being done online. A recent survey finds that a handful of third-party websites are quickly becoming go-to resources for pre-purchase information.

A survey released by LeadiD finds that the most trustworthy auto sites according to consumers are:

1) Kelley Blue Book 32%
2) CarMax 11%
3) Edmunds 8%
4) Cars.com 7%
5) Autotrader 6%
6) Car & Driver 3%
7) Motor Trend 2%
8) Automotive.com 2%
9) Car Connection 1%
10) CarsDirect 1%

Of 1,004 people polled, about 800 said they use online resources to gather data on car makes and models. Nearly half (47%) of those polled said they visit dealer sites, 24% said they visit manufacturer sites.
