Blog: Starkist Settlement $25 In Cash Or $50 In Coupons
By Jim Donovan: StarKist has settled a lawsuit which alleged the company short-weighted cans of tuna. The lawsuit claimed that 5 ounce cans of Chunk Light Tuna in Water, Chunk Light Tuna in Oil, Solid White Tuna in Water and Solid White Tuna in Oil had been under-filled by several tenths of an ounce for years.
Shoppers who purchased the 5 ounce StarKist tuna between 2009 and 2014, are eligible to put in a claim for $25 cash or $50 in StarKist coupons.
$8 million in cash and $4 million in coupons is being made available in the settlement. If too many consumers apply for refunds, each claim may be reduced.
