Blog: Junior League Hosts Whale Of A Sale This Saturday In New Castle
By Jim Donovan: The Junior League of Wilmington Delaware will host their 33rd Whale of a Sale this Saturday, November 8. This bi-annual event is a "Super Bowl" of a garage sale with treasures from children's items and housewares to furniture and antiques with every department imaginable. Whale also features a boutique section and a "new item" department.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is FREE to the public. The location is 312 Cherry Lane in New Castle, DE, a 32,000 square foot facility donated by the CommmonWealth Group.
Proceeds from Whale of a Sale support the Junior League of Wilmington's mission and community focus on children's health and wellbeing.
This year the Junior League is working with Bayard House, Delaware Adolescent Program, Inc., and the Delaware Center for Justice. Specifically, the Junior League is working on developing and implementing workshops for teen and young-adults seeking employment as well as providing resources to our partner organizations through monthly drives and hands-on improvement projects. Advocacy in support of Erin's Law is also one of the League's current initiatives.
