Blog: Avoid Foreclosure, Help Available in NJ
By Jim Donovan
ATLANTIC CITY (CBS) -- This week's closing of the Trump Taj Mahal leaves an estimated 3,000 hotel and casino workers out of work. Many of them are now vulnerable to financial hardships. However, new funding may be able to help those struggling to remain in their homes.
The State of New Jersey and the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) recently announced the reopening of the HomeKeeper program to help residents avoid foreclosure. $115 million in new funding is being made available for the program. In addition, the HomeSaver program, which was launched in 2015, may also be an option.
On Tuesday, October 18th, the NJHMFA is holding a Foreclosure Resource Event in Atlantic City so that struggling homeowners can understand their options. At this FREE event, homeowners can meet one-on-one with a HUD-Certified Housing Counselor and additional vendors who provide services for assistance.
The Foreclosure Resource Event is being held at the All Wars Memorial Building at 1510 Adriatic Avenue. The event will run from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. While registration isn't required, it's strongly advised.

If you can't make it to this event, counselors at Clarifi, the region's largest personal finance nonprofit, have HUD-certified housing counselors that can assist by appointment.
