Billy Joel Back At Citizens Bank Park This Summer

By Michael Cerio

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Add Billy Joel to the list of Philadelphia summer traditions.

For the third year in a row, the Piano Man will fill the seats of Citizens Bank Park. Announced this afternoon, Joel will return to the home of the Phillies on Saturday July 9th.

"This will be the fifth time that legendary artist Billy Joel will take to the stage, where he will once again have the distinct honor of performing at Citizens Bank Park more often than any other entertainer." said Michael Stiles, Phillies Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in a press release.

You might remember last summer's session with the Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer. One day removed from the birth of his second child, Joel flashed baby pictures across the giant screens and threw out celebratory cigars to the crowd during a set packed with hits.
"We sold out the first two years. He's so happy with the park and our relationship. We're very excited," said Live Nation president Geoff Gordon.

As he alluded to the Billy Joel album Storm Front and the inclement weather we're expecting, Gordon says Joel's concert at the ballpark will be nothing less than great.

"Billy's coming back and there is a storm front coming but we're very, very happy to have him come back to Citizens Bank Park three years in a row," said Gordon.

If you would like to see Billy Joel at the ballpark and "forget about life for a while", tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday January 29th at 10 a.m.
